Have a wall, a space, or an idea that needs something specific?

We take on a limited number of commissioned works each year. Commissions can begin with a particular Kuki work, material, palette, subject, or simply a space that needs the right piece.

Each one is made from scratch and developed through the same process as the rest of the studio work. We’re currently accepting new commission inquiries.

How it Works

We start with a conversation about the space, what you’re drawn to, and what you have in mind. For projects in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, we can also meet on site to look at scale, light, placement, and the room itself.

We’ll usually talk through:

• Works or techniques you’re responding to
• Subject, color, materials, and general direction
• Scale and placement
• Framing, if needed
• Budget and timeline

From there, we’ll put together 2–3 rough concepts. Once we agree on a direction, the work goes into the studio schedule.

The process varies with the piece. Some commissions involve painting, stitching, found or repurposed materials, or work made outdoors. If weather or environmental conditions are part of it, the weather gets a vote.

We’ll send occasional photos or video along the way. Most commissions take about 8–12 weeks once production begins; larger or more involved pieces can take longer.
