Blueberry Beach - Mixed Media on Canvas

Seven strange birds gather at the edge of Blueberry Beach, surrounded by tiny blue-berried bushes beneath an enormous rolling pink sky. Saturated reds, turquoise, magenta, and pale washes build a landscape that feels part shoreline, part summer daydream.

From across the room, the work reads as a bold field of color. Up close, stitched birds, exposed threads, layered marks, and small reflective details emerge from the painted surface.

Process

Blueberry Beach is built through Kuki’s layered mixed-media process. The painted ground combines acrylics, enamels, fluid paints, and textured mediums, building broad fields of color alongside smaller gestural marks and layered surfaces.

The birds are constructed individually from fabric and mixed materials, then placed and stitched into the painted landscape. Machine stitching, hand embroidery, exposed threads, and reflective details give each bird its own character and physical presence.

Nothing is printed or simulated. The result is a one-of-one textile-meets-painting hybrid that reads boldly from across a room and reveals its construction the closer you get.
