Birds of Summer continues Kuki’s use of the bird as a recurring form, this time against saturated fields of color and loosely rendered shorelines, water, and sky.
Painted surfaces are cut, layered, and stitched back together, with machine and hand stitching becoming part of the drawing itself. The birds shift between recognizable forms and accumulations of line, color, and material.
